Orlando Sea World Rides
SeaWorld Florida has three superb thrill rides for roller coaster lovers, Shamu's Happy Harbor with rides and attractions for the little kiddies, a helicopter simulator ride and a sky tower that offers breathtaking views of the theme park!
Seaworld Orlando FL says that Kraken is the monster that used to live under your bed... all grown up! This ride consistently ranks as one of the world's top ten roller coasters in the world by enthusiasts and our kids definitely agreed! The park wasn't crowded when we went in early March and they must have jumped on this fierce roller coaster 10 times.
Explore the lost city of Atlantis on this mythical roller coaster water ride. Journey to Atlantis offers steep drops, amazing special effects and super-saturating plunges! It's the perfect way to cool off during a hot summer day and explore the mysterious city of Atlantis SeaWorld style!
The iconic Skytower opened at Sea World Florida in 1973 and proudly offers the absolute best overview of the theme park as well as downtown Orlando. It's a smooth 6 minute theme park ride that everyone in the family will enjoy.
Head first. Face down. One of a kind. Manta. Surrounding by amazing aquariums, you won't even mind standing in line on this one! You'll feel a bit like superman as you fly through the themepark at 56 mph and experience the ride's heart-stopping "near misses." The Manta is definitely one of my favorite Orlando Sea World rides.
SeaWorld Trainer Killed
We visited SeaWorld Florida just 8 days after Dawn Brancheau was killed while working with Tilikum, a killer whale weighing over 12,000 lbs. All of the shows featuring killer whales were done in her memory and there were not many dry eyes after seeing the videos clips showcasing her work and dedication to these special marine mammals.
Dawn lived her childhood dream of becoming a SeaWorld trainer. To lose someone so courageous and dedicated to the well-being and care of these large marine mammals is a devastating loss to the animal welfare and conservation community.
There have been several incidents and deaths involving killer whales, but Dawn is the first and only Sea World trainer killed. Her death will be a catalyst for updated protocols and procedures when dealing with the marine mammals at the park and also serve as a reminder to anyone working with wild animals that even with the best precautions, a trained professional can lose their life in an instant.
My prayers are with Dawn's family, friends and co-workers. Dawn's was a life well lived.
